CEDF’s Business Education Center
Our Business Education Center provides classroom training to small business owners on key issues critical to running a small business, as well as, ongoing free workshops on a variety of topics necessary to maintain a competitive edge in today’s business environment. CEDF is a statewide non-profit organization and therefore we offer our training in multiple locations throughout our state for the convenience of all businesses.
Our mission is clear. We help Connecticut’s small businesses stabilize and grow. We give them hope and opportunities. So while we believe every small business owner in Connecticut should enroll in our workshops, We strongly encourage CEDF clients to enroll. Our loan clients upon completion of the following courses: Setup Your Business Finances and Beginners QuickBooks Pro 2014 are eligible to receive a 0.25% off the interest rate for each course completed. Therefore, they can earn and receive a combined total of 0.50% percent off the existing interest rate) on their standard or SBA micro loan with CEDF at the same time they are learning the best ways to handle their business finances.

Third Thursdays of the Month… Beginning in March we will be offering our monthly topic seminars on various topics of interest to small business owners. Please reserve these dates in 2014 to join us.

Loan Application Seminars Loan sessions assist potential borrowers to navigate the application process. The loan sessions are interactive and designed to answer questions and provide an opportunity to meet with lenders for personal assistance. If you are interested in applying for funds through CEDF in the coming months, you may want to sign up for a free session.
Employees vs. Contractors Understanding the Law and the Implications for Your Business The latest on employee classification provides information on what every small business owner needs to understand about the difference between employees and contracted staff. Connecticut law has changed and the implications can be significant for small businesses that miss classify employees.

Every Thursday evening in the month of July from 5:30 – 7:30 pm workshops, networking & refreshments for a great evening of learning and making connections.
Participation in any CEDF course do not guarantee a CEDF loan approval. Refunds for course enrollments will only be authorized by the director in the event CEDF cancels the entire course (not an individual class where a date is rescheduled).
